From Patsy Cline to The Rolling Stones, Kasey Chambers, Keith Urban, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, The Eagles, Brian Setzer etc. music has always been intrinsically apart of their lives.

The group officially formed in 2011 when on a family holiday at the Tamworth Country Music festival. Jamming on Peel street, they were notified the following day that they had made the top 10 in the Tamworth Country Music Festival busking competition (Not knowing they were in any competition!), with over 600 acts competing. They were invited to perform on the main stage to some thousands of people the next day.

From there, the band have gone on to perform with many of the greats including Jim Lauderdale, James T from American Blues Band Canned Heat , Bill Chambers, The Kentucky Headhunters, Rafe Van Hoy, Smokin’ Joe Robinson, Carter and Carter and many others.

Sarah, a graduate of the 2014 Academy of Country Music in Tamworth, was awarded top 5 in the 2014 American Songwriting Awards (in association with Gwen Stefani) for her song Running Away released by The Buckleys, and the following year both Sarah and Molly were once again nominated for a prestigious ASA Award for Best of the Best.

Amalgamating their love for, and upbringing in, Country Music with the influence of Rock n Roll, Blues, Motown, Swing, Jazz and even Funk, their unique sound and honest lyrics create an appeal that resonates with multiple genres and across numerous demographics
The Winnie Blues
The Winnie Blues
It could have been any other Wednesday, in any other bar in New York City, but unbeknownst to Alice Beatty and Cameron Potts, a chance encounter in a downtown Manhattan venue would lead to the formation of The Winnie Blues.

Both originally from Australia, but having never crossed paths there, they met briefly at a gig at Rockwood Music Hall in 2016. They bonded over a beer and then never saw each other in New York City again. Fast forward 8 months to a local dive bar in Nashville, Tennessee and the two reunited, discussing music and shooting the shit. A plan was made to write one song together. Then another, and then another. Until finally, they needed to form a project together.

The Winnie Blues draw on inspiration from some of the most influential duo’s in music history. From Johnny & June, to Nick & Kylie, and Emmylou & Graham to place their unique stamp on the Americana music scene. The formula is simple yet powerful. Two voices, one microphone, one guitar.

When The Winnie Blues step on to the stage they bring with them a mix of established artistry and raw sincerity. Having toured for some 12 years, Potts established himself through his work with Oxford & Co. and Dead Letter Chorus, bringing a depth of knowledge and experience. This project sees a return to the authentic, dark and dynamic side of his esteemed song-writing. Beatty carries with her a youthful ambition and a voice that is so unique and honest, you’d be forgiven for thinking she herself had years of world class touring under her belt.

Planting themselves firmly in the East Nashville music scene, The Winnie Blues are set to tour extensively through the remainder of 2017, with the goal of frequently releasing new music whilst winning over fans across the nation.

The past 12 months have been a whirlwind for Josh Rennie-Hynes. Having recently been awarded the Australia Council’s prestigious Nashville Songwriters Residency, the Queensland-born artist will be relocating to the US in May 2018 to focus on recording his third solo album. Of the move he says ‘I’m really excited about it. I’ve gone through a lot of changes with my writing and approach in the last few years and I see this as the next step forward.’

The move comes off the back of a huge 2017 for Rennie-Hynes. He formed a duo called The Ahern Brothers with long-time friend and collaborator, Stephen Grady. They released their self-titled debut album in June to critical acclaim, with Rolling Stone calling it, ‘a mesmerising contemporary recording: restrained, pithy and pure. 4 stars’ The duo spent 10 months on the road, building a loyal fan-base and performing at renowned Australian festivals and venues.

Rennie-Hynes released his debut solo album ‘February’ in 2014 and his follow-up album ‘Furthermore’ in 2016, establishing him as one of Australia’s finest songwriters. His live show is moving and unforgettable and since the release of his debut album he has toured continually throughout Australia, New Zealand and the USA. The Courier Mail stated ‘it is clear that Rennie-Hynes is one of the leading lights of Australian music with a gift for story-telling that brings to mind Paul Kelly and Jeff Tweedy of Wilco. 4 stars.’ Authenticity is the defining aspect of his songs; he lives and breathes them, and this passion for his craft burns bright for all to see. They are timeless and familiar, yet uniquely his own.

With Jay’s country-soul voice blending perfectly with Mark’s country-rock sensibilities, it’s a match made in heaven. And now everyone who hears O’Shea benefits from their musical union.
From a young age, vocal power-house WILSN drew comparisons to the tone and strength of a young Aretha Franklin. In 2015 she played her first shows supporting American soul legend, Charles Bradley, and released her first single: “Unmeet You”. Ten days, no paid publicity and 15,000 Soundcloud plays later, it was added to Double J, Triple J Unearthed, ABC 774, with additional air play on Triple J, PBS, and various UK radio. It featured in countless international blogs including Pigeons and Planes, HillyDilly and The Guardian.

WILSN’s second single “Walking For Days” was premiered on Triple J, added to rotation on Double J, played on Apple’s Beats 1 Radio and garnered 80,000 Spotify plays in 2 weeks, which led to it being number 6 on “Spotify’s Top 10 Most Viral Tracks” globally. Her EP was then premiered in the US and features the horn section of Mark Ronson/Charles Bradley.

WILSN received a Music Works Grant to connect with US music industry. This resulted in a management deal with Seth Friedman (Will.I.Am / U2) and a co-publishing contract with Pulse Recording and Native Tongue Publishing. With her EP now over 1 million plays on Spotify, WILSN played her debut US shows at SXSW 2017 and has re-located to Nashville.

“All good soul music has feel – in the playing, arrangements, the lyrics and the singing. This one ticks all those boxes.” – Richard Kingsmill of Triple J.

“Forget neo-soul, this is old soul – the type that never goes out of style. She’s pulled out a cracker of a debut song in Unmeet You. The song rides on an infectious groove with Busch showcasing the kind of husky vocals reminiscent of Dusty Springfield and Amy Winehouse – emotive but with a lightness of touch. And the perfectly tormented lyrics, centred around the memory of an ex-lover (“if I could just unmeet you”) sound like they’re lifted straight out of the torch singer’s textbook.” – Monica Tan of The Guardian.

“There’s a lot of pop music that strives to be soulful but falls short. […] “Unmeet You” is the debut track from Melbourne singer WILSN, an energetic offering whose upbeat tempo is in contrast to the somber message she emphatically delivers. It’s an impressive introduction and one that definitely makes us excited to hear more.” – Pigeons and Planes Music Blog.

“Any kind of music with old-school-sounding soul within it is always worth a listen, and with “Unmeet You”, the roaring debut track from Melbourne’s WILSN, we’ve a track that’s definitely worth some attention. It packs a whole lot of punch, and with her commanding tone in it, some groovy guitars around her, and what energy-peaking chorus is induced from it all, “Unmeet You” is the kind of track that’s going to turn a lot of heads and please twice as many ears.” – Chad Hillard of Hilly Dilly.
