The combination of provocative, conscious, literary creative lyrics, and compelling sounds will keep listeners on their toes as well as having a lot of fun. The intelligent cosmic superfunk collides with wild punk rock energy live in concert making Mote music that hits hard on all levels. Katie Buxton
Katie Buxton
Music has been a part of Katie Buxton's life since the beginning. Her journey in song began with humming in the car before she could talk. Throughout elementary and middle school she was trained in voice and guitar and continued her musical training and experimentation in high school with rock bands, songwriting, and Berklee's Five Week Performance Program, where she was a finalist in the Songwriting Showcase and received mentorship from singer/songwriter Melissa Ferrick and Sally Taylor, songwriter and daughter of James Taylor.

Katie moved from her hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Nashville, Tennessee in 2014 to attend Belmont University for Songwriting. In the fall of 2015 she was accepted into Belmont's Bear House Writer Management as well as the ASCAP Writers Showcase and started recording her first EP. She was chosen as a finalist in the 2016 American Songwriting Awards with her song "Painted Hearts", and in September 2016 played Unify Fest with Trevor Hall and Mike Love. With the release of her single "You Flew", she was featured as a New & Notable artist on the NoiseTrade homepage, as well as under the site's Top Downloads. In October 2016, Katie performed as a semi-finalist in the Music City Big Break Concert Series and just a few days later made her debut at the world famous Bluebird Cafe. Katie performs regularly around the Nashville area and has shared the stage with several accomplished artists and songwriters, including ACM Song of the Year winner Natalie Hemby and #1 writer Heather Morgan.

Over the past year Katie's music and purpose have taken shape and her writing has become a tool for spreading love, light, positivity and honesty. Her songs focus on fresh perspectives, as well as the truths found in every experience. She strives to open the minds of her listeners and help them to approach life with more understanding, compassion, and surrender. She is influenced by artists like Trevor Hall and Liz Longley, as well as the experiences and people she meets.

Katie's debut EP, From Songbirds, was released on March 18th, 2016 and can be found on all major music platforms. Her new single "You Flew" was released on August 23rd and is available now everywhere.
