Jonie
Jonie
In 2016, Joseph Barrios was at an impasse. After performing as a hired gun for years around Nashville he felt he was going down a path of creative stagnation. Following the break up of his own group, 12th Street Social Club, and a sabbatical from making music altogether, Barrios felt a yearning to wander off this path and discover a new sense of identity. The meticulous tightrope between musicianship and technology forged a new relationship with music for Barrios, and thus JONIE was born.

This newly blossomed freedom spawned experiments with synthesizers and samplers that would lead to eccentric hip hop beats and Chicago inspired house music, all spewing out of his kitchen studio. Dance music for indieheads is the essence of JONIE’s brand of electro-pop. It features a dexterous energy that channels the synth-laden dance anthems of Neon Indian with the melodic soundscapes of Passion Pit. The debut single “Cherry 7up” twists classic pop nostalgia with introspective ambient overtones.

JONIE’s path down his solo pop foray has only just begun with the first installment of his Jonie Tapes Collection.
Manrelic
Manrelic
A "Manrelic" consists of a saint's physical remains or belongings preserved for purposes of veneration as a tangible memorial. In this way, a Manrelic honors its predecessors.

Manrelic is Jared Park, a singer, Songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, model and actor.

This Manrelic differs in that Jared seeks to carve his own path. It draws influence from a variety of places, musical and non-musical. There are nods to the larger-than-life characters throughout this past half-century. The synth work fluctuates between dreamy and anxiety-inducing. The drums and percussion pump, bump, and grind with quirkiness. The guitars, at times, cascade around you and then jump out at you like a snarling savage. The bass provides the ground-shaking low-end to fill the music out.

Manrelic wants you to hear something familiar, responsive to its context, but new. Whatever the case, just FEEL something.

Friends,

In a world where we can find infinite reasons to become bitter, cynical and jaded, I am challenging you to latch onto hope, joy, and love.

The process of writing and recording for my upcoming EP, Vapor, was, is, and continues to be a whirlwind. It has truly taught me the bittersweet nature of despair. In the words of my rockstar mother: "your worst day never lasts forever." There is an end to what might feel like an endless struggle. Our pain is much like vapor–here for a moment, and disappearing over time, into thin air. Daily, I am motivated by the fleeting nature of time. I am reminded of the importance in being present in each moment you are given-even when life tends to spit out one disappointment after another.

Music, for me, has always been my motivator towards hope. Unleashing all of my negative and positive energy towards finding a melody always ends in a perspective change. It motivates me to serve others, and to give hope. The words and melodies of Vapor came from the deepest corners of my heart in the midst of the heaviest despair I have ever experienced. I came back to these songs about a year later and added the hope I feel now that the darkness had subsided. I want every human to know that they are not alone in the pain they have previously experienced or the pain that they are currently flooded with. All humans experience pain to one extreme or another. I feel my job as an artist is to reveal the beauty and hope that can be found in the midst of this pain.

You are much more than the hurtful words that other humans have defined you with, and we must wake up every day and remind ourselves this truth. Also, there is something to be said about dancing, having fun, CRASHING down the negative labels that we have been given in the past, and BREAKING out of the roles that were forced upon us.

Spreading hope through melody and lyric is my passion. Also, groovin', dancin', and having fun. This is why I write, this is why I sing, and this is why I play. Join me in latching onto the hope in what’s ahead.
